About Robert and Loving Hard
I believe every person is living a story—and that many of us are trying to write the next chapter without first understanding the one we've already lived.
For more than three decades, I've worked with people in diverse settings: managing construction projects, leading men's ministries, mentoring fathers, speaking to students and adults, and walking alongside individuals through seasons of transition, loss, and growth. While those roles may seem different on the surface, they have all shared one purpose: helping people see more clearly.
My work is grounded in the conviction that our stories shape how we understand ourselves, our relationships, and even God. I earned a Master of Arts in Theology and Culture from The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology, where I studied the intersection of theology, narrative, and human formation. In addition, I completed Levels I and II of Narrative-Focused Trauma Care training, equipping me with a deeper understanding of how trauma, attachment, and lived experience influence the stories we tell ourselves and the ways we move through the world.
Through Loving Hard, I help people pay attention to the narratives that have shaped them—not to become trapped in the past, but to discover new freedom in the present. My approach is not about fixing people or offering quick answers. It's about creating space for insight, helping people recognize patterns they may never have noticed, and inviting them to engage their stories with curiosity, courage, and compassion.
Whether through coaching, writing, speaking, or conversation, my hope is simple:
To help people get it.
Because when we begin to see our stories more truthfully, we become more fully present to ourselves, to others, and to the life God is inviting us to live.
What isLoving Hard?
”I wanna live,
I wanna breathe,
I wanna…
Love Hard.”
From the song “The Morning” by The Call - written by Michael Been
Yea. It’s an 80s tune performed by an 80s band, but…
I remember the first time I heard it, and this line resonated with me - though I wasn’t really sure why.
Lets explore the why? ; your why?
